Measles, also known as rubeola, is a highly contagious viral respiratory infection. Initial symptoms include a high fever, cough, runny nose, red watery eyes and a characteristic rash. This test can determine whether you’re immune by checking for measles antibodies in your blood. Finding these antibodies indicates measles immunity, which is possible from either having had measles previously, or from a previous vaccination.
Note: This test is not intended to be used to diagnose a current active Measles infection. Those with any symptoms of Measles infection or recently exposed should contact a health care provider for next steps.
